Pick A Path!

Psalm 1:6  For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

Twice in the verse we see the words “they way of.” The way of the righteous and the way of the wicked. Again, we see things are back and white, one of the other. We each choose which way we will go. Will we go the way of the righteous or will we go the way of the wicked. Will we choose to follow Christ or will we choose to follow satan.  We choose! I get a choice and you get a choice! Every person alive has that choice and the choice they make will affect them for eternity.

Reading this verse makes me think of a passage in Matthew 7 that many people know. It is found in verse 13-14…

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Jesus himself is speaking here. He makes it very clear there are two different ways that can be taken. Verse 14 tells us the righteous way, the narrow way. It leads to life! When you read Psalm 1:6 we are told Jesus watches over the way of the righteous. He makes sure everything is taken care of so that those who accept Him as their Lord and Savior experience eternal life, eternity in His presence. Their may be struggles, difficulties, hurts, challenges, suffering and pain in this life but the way to life, through Jesus Christ our Lord, doesn’t get lost. He watches over us through all of the trials of life on this Earth and delivers into eternal life, He knows the way!

Verse 13 of Matthew 7 and verse 6 of Psalm 1 have the same phrase “leads to destruction.” The broad gate and road of the wicked leads is a busy road. Sadly it seems like 5:00 traffic jam when you look at our world and the wickedness that runs so rampant in it. Destruction is such a harsh word. It is defined as “the action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired.” Sadly those who choose the way of the wicked will come to point when they can no longer be repaired. They can no longer be saved from eternal damnation.

The wonderful news is that if you are reading this there is still time. There is time for you to recognize your sinful condition. To realize the only solution for your condition is the Jesus Christ and a personal relationship with Him. There is still time for you to acknowledge your condition, believe in Jesus and what He did for you on the cross and through His resurrection, then choose to accept His gift of salvation. When you do the path of destruction is instantly replaced with the way of the righteous!.
